My toddler-turned-preschooler has been art-obsessed since she could palm a crayon! I knew an art table would be the perfect Christmas gift for her. I spent weeks adding and deleting things from my list until I found the perfect balance of messy but fun!

Storage and Furniture for Your Preschool Art Center
Kids are flexible. They can set up shop and be happy just about anywhere. But art can get messy and you may not want it on your couch, under your kitchen table, or in your bed. Setting up a designated space for your preschool art center is essential to containing the mess!
We actually have two art centers most months of the year. Our art easel comes out on our covered porch so we can paint outside! When it gets too cold to head outside without mittens, we squeeze the easel back into the toy room until spring with our art table.
The art table I chose has a large supply organizer on top, paper storage and shelving on the side, a large workspace, and two chairs. It’s very sturdy and will be a piece of furniture we use for years to come.
Here are all of my favorite storage and furniture picks for a preschool art center!
Paper Essentials for Your Toddler Art Station
While you technically don’t need paper to make art, most kids’ art projects start with paper of some sort. Having a variety of paper available is actually really great for helping your budding artist grow. Supplies work and look differently on different types of paper! Stocking up on a variety of paper options will ensure you’re prepared for any project your child throws your way!
Having rolls of paper on hand is great even if you don’t have an easel! You can easily set up murals or indoor hopscotch paths, cover surfaces to help cleanup, and even wrap gifts and let your kids create custom wrapping paper!
The Best Art Supplies for Kids
This is the good stuff! The sometimes messy but necessary supplies for actually creating the art. I try to keep it simple and restock supplies mainly at Christmas time unless we run out of glue or paper! I think my absolute favorites are the Paint Sticks…they’re low mess and so easy for kids to use!
Fun but Sometimes Messy Additions to Your Kids Art Table
These are mostly unnecessary but add a lot of fun to your art table! And sometimes a lot of mess!
